No personal insult meant, but could one be more ignorant.

The taliban were the good guys that the US supported all the way up to when the US started bombing afghanistan in retaliation to 9-11. They were good friends of Chainey, and haliborton, who are gonna build a natural gas pipeline from tajikistan to the indian ocean. It was the al-qaeda that attacked you, not the taliban, the taliban only harbored the al-qaeda in afghanistan.

Saddam had WMD's before he attacked kuwait, as a matter of fact it was the US and UK that provided him with WMD, so that he wouldnt loose to iran in the 80's. After the 1st gulf war the UN inspectors found and destroyed iraqs stockpile of WMDs, what was left of the stuff that the west sold him. This latest eppisode of WMD is about what the west believed he may have produced after 1996. The fact is iraq was being bombed almost monthly with either sam sites or possible WMD production facilities being targeted. Thats why powell made the suggestion that they were possibly making WMDs in the backs of trucks...

WMDs, or more precisely chemical and biological agents are much like nukes, which too are WMD. They are weapons of last resort, the stuff that you hope you don't have to use but do so when you are about to be overwhelmed. Now if saddam had the stuff he would have used it just as the coalition troops were advancing on baghdad, instead of hiding them so well that non has been found yet.

One last point is your notion that if the US had bombed al-qaeda (although you claim the taliban?) more throughly back in 98 they would have been prevented from ramming the cole with a boat full of explosives. You can't destroy terrorists ability to wage attacks by bombing countries, the only way to prevention is through increased security measures. But you get to a point that even with as much security as possible a maniac who is suicidal enough will find a way.......

Welcome aboard and thanks for posting. I'm sure you meant to say Al Qaeda instead of Taliban. There's evidence that President Clinton might have killed Osama when he bombed the terrorist camps if he hadn't informed Pakistan of the bombing prior to doing it. I read somewhere that the prior information was whal allowed Osama to escape death. And of course if he had been killed the USS Cole bombing might not have happened.

There are stories told about WMD being trucked across the Iraqi border into Syria just before the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Supposedly it was cooperation between Ba'ath party officials in the two countries, and the WMD are buried in known locations. Only time will tell if this is truth or rumor.
