I don't share your hope in our system. Not afte reading today the SCOTUS was leaning in Cheney's direction by behaving as activist judges and expanding the definition of Executive Priviledge -- thus giving Cheney a pass to keep his energy task force meeting minutes secret.

Of course it will end - either it will end or the US will no longer be govenred by the rule of law - the Constitution is the law of the land and our only hope.
Remember the only purpose of the constitution is to protect us from government.
