What in the world will I call her?

My wife and I are having a daughter (our first) and we could not be more excited, but we cannot settle on a name. We want her to have a name that is different, yet pretty.

My wife favors Skylar, I favor Esme. She vetoed Esme so thats a no go. Looks like Skylar might win out. Thats where you come in, Could you help us to find the perfect middle name for Skylar, and maybe also suggest some alternative first names that have the same feel?

Keep in mind that our surname is Michael. Any help is appreciated

@Indie Mac,
First of all - congratulations.
Skylar is a gorgeous/unique name!
Are there any names in your family that are unusual that you like the sound of?
Not only will your baby have an unusual name, but also a name that is more on a personal level that runs in the family. That's always a plus.
If you really like the sound of unusual names, the ones I can think of at the moment are -
Tasma, Ebony, Anya, Ffion, Nina, Lillia.
Hope this helps x

Don 't call her "Ebony" unless u are Africans.
That woud be un-speakably cruel.

@Indie Mac,
Give her a normal, boring, middle of the road middle name. Seriously. If Skylar is too much for her, makes her stand out when she doesn't want to, etc., then she'll at least be able to go by Ann or Beth or whatever her middle name is.

And for other girls names perhaps these, they were our nearlies,

Alicia

I hope you find the name you love, I know how it can be, it will take 1000 suggestions before you go with your gut.

Too bad we can't do it like naming cats. You adopt an eight week old kitten and you can take your time and see what works. You can even change it latter if it doesn't fit.

@Indie Mac,
A hybrid between your choice and your wife's: Skyme

Trying getting a corporate sponsor: Skype

Or just Sky or Skye.

Skysy apparently is a Native American name.

I agree. How about Rachel? Failing, that any names from film/literature you like? Alice In Wonderland or Emma?

@Indie Mac,
Congratulations, Indie!

Skylar is a very lovely name.

How about Skylar Alexis? I think those two sound good together, and blend with your surname as well.

@izzythepush,
Rachel Michael doesn't really go...but I like the literature idea.

It's a shame your wife doesn't like Esme, I prefer it to Skylar - this now just reminds me of Walter's wife in Breaking Bad.

Good luck finding a name!!

If she vetoed yours, why can't you veto hers and come up with a new name?

@Bella Dea,
With the surname Michael, I would go with Georgie, which her future friends would no doubt shorten.

I come to this forum in need of your help

My friend and I are putting together a gamer channel, trouble is, I am not a creative mastermind which leaves us requiring a brandname. Any assistance you could give would be very well received, it will not be game specific, so you have the creative floor.

Thank you Smile

So.... Has anyone noticed this member's other thread? Maybe he can synergize the two names. Link the baby's and gaming channel's name in a synchronized brandname. Rolling Eyes

Be careful, don't saddle her with a name that people can't spell or she'll have to go through her life being asked "Is there a 'k' at the end of Skylar?", and "Do you spell it 'Esmy'"

If I had a daughter i'd plump for something simple like Jenny or Sue

@tsarstepan,
That's basically why I started some silliness.

He/she/it will maybe have the courtesy to grace us with its presence in maybe a week or two, probably complaining that some of us aren't tsking the subject seriously.

Ooh...I've thought of another one ending in Michael.

Princess.

We've got one of those over here....

Princess Michael of Kent. ....Gawd bless 'er, an' all who sail on her.

Read Robert Frost's poem Maple
http://famouspoetsandpoems.com/poets/robert_frost/poems/731<br />

The names we give our children rule them all their lives.

I've always liked my father's advice on such things, before you name a child, go up to the corner and call out the name as if you were getting the kid home for dinnertime.

@Joe Nation,
That's exactly why I did the Buble bit. My Dad said just that same thing.

Wait a minute.......Did your Dad get around a lot?

Was he stunningly handsome, charismatic, six foot three, built like a brick sh*thouse and a bit of a babe magnet?

Nah.......neither was mine.
