Can one proof that god DOESN'T exist?

Two questions, Cavfancier: (1) are you suggesting that given more evolutionary "development" we will someday be able to prove the existence of God?, and (2) do you think the universe is kept "in balance" by something other than it (something apart from the universe)?

is there any evidence that the universe is in order? or is order simply a description of what is?

Our sense of universal order is probably very limited. c.i.

As usual, very good point, Dys. JLNobody is also correct, sort of, but of course, it is anthropomorphic to say that the universe does anything. Or that God does anything for that matter.

I have recently discovered four irrefutable proofs that God exists.
------------

1) CAUSAL INITIATION
Every time I wake up and start the day I create my own idea of God, and use it to amuse my actions as I go about this strange and wondrous business of living.

I know God exists. I created Him. D'oh! I create a new one whenever I need to. Multiply that by six billion people on the planet, and we have one crowded panoply of heavenly figures that can be used to justify anything, anytime, anywhere! Life is good.

But no wonder we are stuck on Earth. There's not enough room in heaven and hell for all the strange ideas people come up with.

2) INSEPARABLE OMNISCIENCE
We are already all-knowing and all-inclusive. Everyone is omniscient, just every person a part of the whole, in their own way. We simply haven't realized it yet, because we get hung up on the idea that we are separate from our surroundings. We're too stupid to realize that we already know everything.

Once we realize that everything is One, then we, being One, are everything. By definition! We are everything and everything is us, a cohesive and synergistic whole that comprises the definition of God.

"I am you and you are me and we are one together."
Koo-koo-ka-choob and Namasté.

3) SELF-GENERATION OF SEMANTIC REALITY
I think, therefore I am.
The instant I conceptualize a chair, I am able to see chairs everywhere. So I sit on them.
I think of what God means, then I am able to see God everywhere. So I pray for free stuff.
Therefore God definitely exists, clearly and universally in a spiritual level, anywhere and everywhere I choose to recognize Him. No church needed.

4) HITCHHIKERS PRAGMATISM
In the calculus of spirituality, if you integrate across the sum of all possible Gods, we find the answer to life, the universe and everything is still 42. Just ask Doug. He knows everything (just like you!) even if no one admits it. Is any other answer really going to change anything?

"Whatever gets you through the night... is alright... alright."

------------
If you find the universe is not in order, it is only because you haven't tidied it up yet enough to find the balance of it. Your problem. You solve it.

There will NOT be a quiz later, because Life is not a rehearsal.
Anyone who has made it this far has already passed.

Thank you for your attendance.
It has been entertaining to educate you. Any questions?

One turns out two, two turn out everything. But what is "one?"

If numbers were products of humans, then how would it be possible that someone had a "zero" asset, that "one" germany appeared, that humans had "two" kind of sexes, that "tri"color could be a symbol, or that DNA had "four" kind of constituents..?

Ah! That's what you meant...
Subjective judgement! We conceptualize an idea, and then proceed as if the idea itself IS the reality, when it's still just a model.

"One" is a concept. A pattern-recognition tool used by people. Without a person sitting there to judge it, then a tricolor would not be interpreted patriotically, DNA might be seen as a different structure, and all the various sexes that humans have would not be simplified into the idea of just the two main ones ("male" and "female").

Is that what you meant ... an abstract concept?

Codeborg,
...I loved your post. Not because it was educational, but because it concurred with my thoughts. I've tossed around my own phrases like, "Everything within itself", or "I am within God is within me", but I tip my hat to you on your ability to convey.

Please continue to remind us, Codeborg (we forget too easily) that we live in a sort of virtual reality--not that the virtual reality is not a "real" virtual reality. That we model our experience, such that it seems to have been "given" to us by God or something like that. Our world is our personal and collective on-going construction. It seems so objectively real because it often "works" (geometry helps us build bridges that do not fall) and because it is consensually validated every minute of our social life--that's why we lock up insane people. They disconfirm our models (and they serve to confirm them--as object lessons by being locked up).

JL,
...Never heard it, but it makes sense. Let me tell you about my "Story of Gold"
...People used to looked so shocked when I said I was God I had to come up with an explanation:
...Let's say, in all of of existence there is but one entity. and this exixtence is Gold. So Gold decides to create planets, stars, mankind, rocks, plants, etc. Now when you're going to create, or produce something, you need materials. Since there was no Home Depot around, Gold could only use the only material in existence, Gold itself. So this means that everything is gold, and those who exercised their capacity for thinking, could correectly say, "I am Gold".
...And so it is with God........"Grasshopper." Cool

The answer to the question is:

We don't really know -- but there is no indication that anyone has done it or even come close -- and it appears as though it cannot be done.

In the meantime: I'd bet huge sums against it.
