@Olivier5,
Quote:
The law is one thing, your own personal ethic another. You know right or wrong from your own conscience, but the law ought to be based on the will of the majority. At least in democracies that's how it works.

Holy ****, you really believe that?

I’m assuming you are another ill informed American? The U.S. is not a democracy , it is a Constitutional Republic. Democracy is another name for mob rule, which we are slowly descending to.

@Leadfoot,
You are the ill-informed American, not Olivier. This is one of the right's more stupid memes. What they mezn by mob rule is simply majority rule, which is how we havew \ALWAYS decided things. One person morethan 50%2 wins the electon, or passes the law. We have a Constitution toe protect people's rights. We are in fact a constitutional democracy. So called mob rule is simply parliamentary procedure. Always has been.

@Leadfoot,
The democracy is mob rule is usually ttributed to Thomas Jefferson. the Jefferson experts say there is NO evidence Jefferson erver said anything like that. it's first recorded appearance has been dated to 2004, rather late for Jefferson to have said it. it is in other words fake amerian history. you lose leadfoot.

You don't get the point, eh?!
If Jefferson said it or not is not that important.
Just with two brain cells working together you can see what is meant by
"The democracy is mob rule"! But it might be possible that your two braincells....... Ah well you get my drift, eh?!

@MontereyJack,
Here, I’ll let you argue with Benjamin Franklin, the only man to have signed all three founding documents.

Quote:

AUTHOR: Benjamin Franklin (1706–90)

Franklin was asked after the Constitutional Convention:
QUOTATION: “Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”

Franklin answered:
A Republic, if you can keep it.

ATTRIBUTION: The response is attributed to BENJAMIN FRANKLIN—at the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, when queried as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation—in the notes of Dr. James McHenry, one of Maryland’s delegates to the Convention.

McHenry’s notes were first published in The American Historical Review, vol. 11, 1906, and the anecdote on p. 618 reads: “A lady asked Dr. Franklin Well Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy. A republic replied the Doctor if you can keep it.” When McHenry’s notes were included in The Records of the Federal Convention of 1787, ed. Max Farrand, vol. 3, appendix A, p. 85 (1911, reprinted 1934), a footnote stated that the date this anecdote was written is uncertain.
SUBJECTS: Republic
WORKS: Benjamin Franklin Collection

Really... Then why isn’t Hillary R. Clinton in the Whitehouse?
She won popular vote by over three million votes.

Damn, you guys sure can ignore facts.

@Leadfoot,
Y'all put way way way too much credence in the founding terrorists. Most of their crap was flowery propaganda, meant to hide their major crimes.

Franklin, the idiot, made an off handed comment about the distinction between a monarchy and a democracy/republic. Of course there was no monarch, the American terrorist revolution saw to that.

M-W meaning 1b certainly doesn't describe the USA, but overall the US is considered a democracy.

M-W:
Definition of democracy
plural democracies
1 a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority
b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
2 : a political unit that has a democratic government

There were easily that many illegal votes, and Killary got 100% of the illegal vote. A fact you ignore.

Study supports Trump: 5.7 million noncitizens may have cast illegal votes

The two words, fact and meme, have identical meanings to conservative folks like you, coldjoint. The only use Trump and his followers ever make of a dictionary is as a bench or a stool to reach their corn liquor.

For the past two pages not a word has been said about evolution. If you deem this battle over semantics worthy of an extended discussion, can't you start another discussion?

@camlok,
I was not making any judgement on Franklin or the quality of our system of government. I pointed out what it was conceived to be and the direction it is going. I’m not crazy about it either.

@Leadfoot,
It was conceived to be a democracy, which is what it is from a political science point of view. This was the crap that was fed to the masses to make them think it was something other than a terrorist action against the government of the day.

@Leadfoot,
You are not facing reality, LF, the USA is a democracy. Check any dictionary, check reality. Check the English language.
