Science never uses traditions nor interpretations, it gathers data to construct theories interpreted as natural laws.
Imagine someone stating: in this particular community of 2000 people everyone traditionally and culturally since 300 years ago consider that the sum of 1+1 is 3. So by analysis of the tradition since it is old, and there are antique books of non specific origin that claim that 1/1=3 it should be true.
