Many say that John Kerry is lying about being a democrat, and that how can he be a man of the people if he is rich. Well, I thought he was only rich because of his wife? Your thoughts?

The Clinton cabinet and White House staff had more millionaires on them than in any previous (or subsequent) administration. The top 20 or 30 richest members of Congress are all Democrats except one I think. I think John Kerry wasn't worrying about where his next meal was coming from when he married his current wife.

And I don't think it matters at all.

Hobitbob:

LOL!!! Indeed.

I'm amazed that the Bush loyalists are so concerned about the size of the bank accounts of Democrats in Congress (or at least a few are -- LOL!!), but none of them are equally concerned about their boy Bush?

After all, he is the hereditary pawn of one of the wealthiest American political dynasties in history. Some estimates peg the Bush clan fortune at $1.5 billion. And, it's all blood money.

Jenna will never have to worry about paying her speeding tickets.

John Kerry was a "blue blood" long before the appearance of his
2nd wife, Teresa Heinz. Confused

Kerry wasn't on a "bread line" while a law student at Boston College either. Sad

What % of Kerry's $675 million is Teresa Heinz's money from her first husband, Senator Heinz?

I'd guess most of it--IIRC, she was worth about $600 million when he mrried her (about twice what his first wife was worth). He's a gigolo.

There have been many false claims about Kerry's wealth especially after marrying his wife. Granted he is wealthy as the majority of politicians are - how could you run for a major office and be elected without having a large amount of wealth to assist your campaign? The one thing though, Teresa (Heinz) Kerry's wealth has little to do with Kerry's wealth as they signed a pre-nup. Also, Teresa's wealth is also many times inflated. According to snopes - "John and Teresa Kerry signed a prenuptial agreement and have kept their premarital assets separate." See: http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/homes.asp.

And besides whether so and so is wealthy or not, why does that make one automatically a Republican or Democrat? Isn't your party affiliation reflective of your political beliefs and not your wealth? If it were only based on wealth, we would only have Republicans in major office positions.
