Allah, Eloah, Elohim, Alah, Elah
Hi there, Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic, Assyriac, and some other semitic languages are very closely related.
The word or rather name "Allah" in Arabic is akin to the name Eloah in Hebrew. Elah is the romanized version which could as well be written as Alah.
In Mel's movie, "Jesus" said, "Elahi Elahi lama sabachtani". Elahi (e-la-hee) basically means My Lord in both Aramaic AND Arabic. The suffix 'i' denotes possessiveness in most if not all of the Semitic languages. Mel did his homework and from what I know, he based his movie mostly from Christian and Jewish traditions.
Similar words in Aramaic and Arabic is the word "ant" or "anta" which means you(male).
Similar word in Hebrew and Arabic:
Tepuach = Tufah (Apple)
Akhi = Akhi (My Brother)
Shalom = Salam (Peace)
Yom = Yaum (Day)
Kippur = Kifar(ah) or Kifarah (Atonement)
There're a lot more.
Rgds
And who cares? Other than Gibson showing off, this is not a serious discussion but if you will read the postings, you'll see it is a parody of Mel's farcical cinematic epic.
Thought about this one today and decided the thread is worth resurrecting.

It has been too long since your last one, Bill! Are you okay?
Easter has passed, right?
I thought Passion Of Christ was crap money-making scheme. Sequel? No thanks.
Gibson does fancy himself as a kind of new wave, quasi-art film auteur version of Cecile B. Demille and he did risk his own money in making TPOTC
(pronounced Tee-Pot-Cee). When he convinced himself to sub-title the movie after the distributor's advice (or was it a condition of the distributor?), breaching his fundamentalist Catholic principals, I'm sure he knew it was going to make a ton of dough and was not the least surprised. Now if he'd stop spending a miniscule part of the profits in bars not frequented by those of the Jewish faith (I guess one could easily find them), he'd be able to get past the first step.
I can't believe this thread is 3 years old!
some big laughs...and some dearly departed people
Most notably, cavfancier.

And behold, on the third year, it arose from the dead.
