Bush is struggling to prevent the escalating violence in Iraq from engulfing his re-election campaign, after his worst political week this year triggered bipartisan calls for a rethink of US strategy there.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1187437,00.html

Thirty American soldiers and 130 Iraqis have been killed since the weekend in Falluja, where heavy combat continued last night. Unconfirmed reports said US planes fired rockets yesterday, destroying four houses and killing 26 Iraqis.

Opinion polls show Mr Bush's approval ratings eroding, despite spending $40 million on campaign advertising in the past month. A survey by the Pew Research Centre found only 43% of Americans thought the presi dent was doing a good job.

First, expecting a UK news organization to understand American politics is like going to a baker and expecting him to be able to tell you why your car keeps stalling.

As to President Bush's re-election chances...

From the article:

"A survey by the Pew Research Centre found only 43% of Americans thought the president was doing a good job."

Pew is AMERICAN.

The Guardian simply reported it.

The Guardian is a UK news organization...

Pew is a notoriously biased liberal site.

Using their misleading and skewed data is like using data from the Ku Klux Klan website to find out what is going on in the African American community (everything you find will be biased and skewed to fit their political agenda)

"Pew is a notoriously biased liberal site." fedral

LOL!!!

Any polling organization that publishes polling data showing Bush below the critical 50% level will be dismissed by you and your ilk as " notoriously biased liberal" and therefore not credible.

Funny though, when the so-called FOXNews (GOP-TV) opinion dynamics poll has Bush at 120%, the Bush loyalists quote it shamelessly!

We can bounce this whole thing back and forth 'til the cows come home. It's what happens in November that will tell the tale!

From this I can assume you are aware of notoriously biased conservative sites?

There is a site called Dr.Pollkatz which plots the Bush approval ratings with seperate colors for every pollsters. The graphshaven't been updated since the end of 2003, but they do allow to compare the bias of the pollsters. Based on these graphs, PEW has a general bias in favor of Bush. It tends to produce higher approval ratings and lower disapproval ratings than most competitors, though its bias isn't quite as strong as FOX's.

Fedral, would you mind doing some research before the next time you make claims like this? "Using their misleading and skewed data is like using data from the Ku Klux Klan website to find out what is going on in the African American community". You'd be doing the conservative viewpoint a favor.

Thomas:

The right could usually rely on Zogby to lean their way on a variety of issues, including Bush. Even FOXNews was fond of citing Zogby when it suited their propaganda mission. Zogby was a friends of the GOP.

I've noticed of late that Zogby has published a few polls that were less than laudatory of Bush.

Guess what?

Bush loyalists have taken to dissing Zogby.
