I dont know what all this anti-semitism bull-SH*T is about .. i think the movie was AWESOME .. being an avid blood, gore and horror movie fan .. i seldom find something that actually moves me .. i mean BRUTALITY just doesnt evoke the kind of emotons that it should these days because directors really play down suffering .. they heighten the INFLICTION of pain but play down the reception thereof.. I think TPOTC was brilliant in that it didnt cut scenes between the blows and the results thereof .. it made for a much more moving reception .. i cant remember the last movie that evoked so many feelings ...

I'm not religious but i think woteva one's beliefs are ... the film as a FILM was brilliant... also religious FANATICS pls dont reply to this bec i'm not interested in ur clouded judgements .. and if ure JEWISH and ave issues dont answer either cuz u need to GET OVER URSELVES .. if any 1 was cruel and inhuman in the movie it was the Romans ..so i dont see where all these ANTI-SEMITIST issues r comin from ... i dont see the italians complainin ... and they did the worst of it in the movie xx

As for seeing the movie "The Passion......" I'll pass thank you. A few people at my church (Lutheran) were mortified when I voiced my intention of not seeing it. You'd think I was Satan himself (if he really exists, which I don't believe he does) because I have the opinion I do about Gibsons version of Christs death. I guess it goes to show you that every denomination has it's fair share of closed minded freaks.

I get very uptight when my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom I love and believe in, sight unseen, has His death degraded to the level of pornography just so Mel Gibson can make an obscene profit for himself by exploiting His death.

No thanks animosity. I have no desire to line Mel Gibson's pockets. If I want to watch a quality, moving movie about the LIFE and death of Jesus, I will watch the movie "Jesus of Nazareth".

I recommend Life of Brian, it will be re-released this spring.

There was an earlier thread on this subject on A2K which posted a number of the review for the Passion. A many of them called the movie pornographic. Personally I have not seen it nor do I intend to.

I saw the movie and thought it was brilliant.

I also watched Peter Jenning's special last night "Jesus and Paul, the Word and the Witness" and found it just as brilliant.

WELL WHOEVER REVIEWD THE FILM AS PORNOGRAPHIC MIGHT WANT TO TAKE A LOOK IN THE DICTIONARY BECAUSE THEY ARE MAKING THEMSELVES OUT TO BE SERIOUS IDIOTS!!!!!

pornography

por·nog·ra·phy [pawr nóggrəfee]
n
1. sexually explicit material: films, magazines, writings, photographs, or other materials that are sexually explicit and intended to cause sexual arousal

...oh AND SINCE PORNOGRAPHY IS INTENDED TO CAUSE SEXUAL AROUSAL ...then i suggest that those REVIEWERS see a psychologist cuz THERE IS NOTHING AROUSING ABOUT A MAN GETTING BEATEN TO SHREDS.

u americans r a VERY odd bunch .. of all the many things that THE PASSION mite be .. why in the hell would sum1 think it to be PORNOGRAPHIC? that to me makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE

You must have bought your dictionary at the supermarket.

Mirriam Webster:

Main Entry: por·nog·ra·phy
Pronunciation: -fE
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek pornographos, adjective, writing about prostitutes, from pornE prostitute + graphein to write; akin to Greek pernanai to sell, poros journey -- more at FARE, CARVE
1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement
2 : material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement
3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction <the pornography of violence>

You might read all that's been debated on this film here (A2K encourages that you participate in a discussion that is in progress on a subject rather than start a new one) Link:

i'm sorry but wherever or wotever dictionary u got that from .. it must be AMERICAN .. beacause in ENGLISH dictionaries such as the oxford...and in NORMAL ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES .. pornography denotes only the former two definitions and ALWAYS connotates SEXUALITY

Merrian Webster is an upstart dictionary that I wouldn't put any credence in. (Incidentally, the new edition of the Oxford which I have provides the same definition).

Hey, thanks, Acquiunk and as to a film I would recommend (I've seen the studio preview) as far as epic filmmaking (not something which is really a Hollywood potboiler dressed up with artfilm trappings like Gibson's mess), go see "The Alamo."

I've read that Thorton's production of 'The Alamo' is one of the best. I'll be sure to see it.

Considering anamosity's writing style, he or she could use a nice American dictionary.

Thanks, I'll give it a look see. Just saw Able Gance's Napoleon, and was impressed. It had it's quirks, but then again it was also French.

I managed to catch a screening of "Napoleon" about ten years ago in the original wide angle "Cinerama." There was also a live full orchestra! Very impressive.
