@vonny,
You know what's interesting and amazing about some movies like the West Side Story?

No matter how long ago one sees it, you can still "hear the music" when such a scene is seen again.

@cicerone imposter,
I love West Side Story more than any other musical. You are right about the music - yes, I can hear it in my mind the second I think of the film - so many great songs. And such wonderful choreography! I used to know all the routines off by heart!

@vonny,
When I first saw West Side Story, I saw John Astin and immediately figured he was inspired by the dancers and he must have at least influenced the theme to his TV series, The Adams Family, with the familiar clicking fingers. Just a passing whimsy, since I never researched to see if it is so.

Most of these movies mentioned in this thread fail to have a strong leading female character. I'm here to rectify that with Princess Mononoke (1997)

@izzythepush,
I looked for the full movie on You Tube, but they had to remove it because of copyright laws. Too bad.

@cicerone imposter,
I had to buy the dvd. I only knew about it because of the film review on Al Jazeera of all places.

It is a film noir in the truest sense of the word.

@izzythepush,
Here's one I really like, Das Boot. You can buy it dubbed in English, or - as I prefer - with subtitles. Great film, either way.

@vonny,
The English dubbing of Das Boot isn't b-movie terrible but it's kind of bad. I wouldn't recommend it.

@tsarstepan,
I've never (ever, ever, ever) liked dubbing. I do generally like subtitles.

@izzythepush,
I watched Flame and Citron last night. Gotta say it truly was an amazing true story about the resistance in Denmark. I was watching to see if I could recognize some of the areas they filmed in Copenhagen, but didn't see anything. Those two deserved those belated medals from the US.

Who to trust and not to trust was the central theme throughout that movie.

I highly recommend it for others, and thanks izzy, for mentioning it on this thread.
