Which breakers run what?

Reply Wed 7 Aug, 2013 06:55 pm
I've checked all my breakers and matched them with outlets, lights, etc. There were several breakers that had no outlets or lights on them. What items in a home are run on 15 or 20 amp breakers and are serviced by only one breaker? I'm not including the appliances that run on 220 because they are obvious.

@mickeyrory,
I'm not sure what you meant. Those breakers are extras...for future expansion.

@Ragman,
they are already wired so I'm thinking they service something.

@mickeyrory,
Maybe one is the electric water heater?

@mickeyrory,
I am wondering if you are talking about a house or boat?

@Ragman,
Probably not, just curious. I have seen extra breakers on a boat, not on a house.

They go to light and ventilate that grow room that is hidden in your basement by your next door neighbor's brother.

@Ragman,
Thanks Ragman, water heater would be one; mine is a natural gas heater. Would that still apply? Do A/C's or natural gas furnaces run on 15 or 20 amp?

@mickeyrory,
Not sure to be honest. Mine is an electric water heater.

However, if the water heater runs on gas, there'd be no need for electricity, except the thermostat would need to run on electricity.

@Ragman,
My water heater runs on gas. I don't know about the electricity though. It has never been a problem even when the power is out.
