At the bottom of my screen a small icon that looks very much like an acorn has been showing today. It stays with me from site to site. Who knows what it could be and how to shake it?
@edgarblythe,
Have you tried clicking on it and asking it to identify itself?
@Lustig Andrei,
All I get is information about the site I am on when I do that. I am assuming it is for tracking, but don't know what it really is.
@edgarblythe,
It's probably a browser add-on of some type. You probably agreed to it by accident when installing something recently.
If you go into your browser settings and look for add-on's there is usually a way to disable them or remove them.
@edgarblythe,
Right-click your mouse pointer on the acorn icon and see if one of the choices is "about." If so, click on it and see what it says. It should identify which program it is from.
I haven't figured it out yet.

Have you seen any squirrels?

How 'bout now? Figure it out yet?
@edgarblythe,
Is this the icon? Always remember the acorn never falls far from the aok.
@laughoutlood,
Embarrassed to say it turned out to be a spot of something stuck to the screen. But it was in the shape of a small acorn, vertical and very light amber. Much like a spot of coffee.
@edgarblythe,
Thank you for my first smile of the day, edgar!
@edgarblythe,
You are one hell of an honest man...........
@edgarblythe,
Good one , sounds like a case of
shoulda gone to specsavers.
Let the others have their chortle at edgar's expense. Me, I'm just glad for him that it wasn't anything serious (like new spyware from the NSA).
I believe in conspiracies. Somebody is out to get my computer. I just haven't figured out who and how.
@edgarblythe,
EdgarB, I got a great kick out of your straightforward tale of human error writ small but scary at first. Very charming post in its way.

@ossobuco,
I might have been embarrassed in another life. But I have no pride these days.
@edgarblythe,
Ditto with many of us. But so much of a2k is upyournose these days, that people tend to stand their ground, sometimes oddly.
