@Placid Carcass,
Yea and be sure neutral actually is a power conductor and not an "earth ground" (eg to which metal outlet boxes and the lone socket terminal are supposedly connected), which might not carry much current

@dalehileman,
A ground should *never* carry current unless there is a fault. in hich was your breaker should be tripping or fuse blowing.
