A train tracks splits into two tracks, there are workers working on each track. On one of the tracks, five workers are working, whereas on the other, only one is. You are at the switch that can divert the train on one track or the other. There IS a train coming.

Suppose also that your voice screaming would not reach any of the worker to move. They are also wearing really good sound proof ear muffs and are facing away from the train. They would not see the train coming. And when the conductor sees the workers, it would already be too late to stop the train in time.

Is it morally acceptable to use the switch to divert the train to prevent 5 deaths at the cost of one?

As I said before, you clearly know nothing about railways. Railway workers of all types, whether train crew or track maintenance workers, operate under clear safety rules. This just wouldn't happen. Those dumb clipart pictures make your posts look even more stupid.

They deserve Darwin awards. They should die.

Unless the train is travelling at walking pace, in which case the driver can stop the train short of the workers, it would probably derail on the switch, potentially killing all the passengers. So I'd do nothing. Also if the track is being worked on, trains should not run as the track would potentially be unsafe.

This is just another version of the Trolley Problem.
