Hello,
I would like the opinion of native speakers on the following: women were asked to rate the relationship with their spouses (the women were not necessarily married but all of them lived with a partner) as good, regular or bad.
I would like to know how best to word the following:
High self-esteem correlated significantly with positive marriage relationship ratings.
Other possibilities: couple relationship, spousal relationship, marital relationship, marriage relationship, conjugal relationship, and whatever else I missed.
Also, does marriage and relationship with the partner mean exactly the same thing? For example, if I said "rated their marriages positively," would the meaning be exactly the same? Thanks very much.
@Doubtful,
Quote:Other possibilities: couple…..spousal relationship….. whatever…...
Seem okay
Quote:For example, if I said "rated their marriages positively,"
Instead of what
Quote:would the meaning be exactly the same?
Same as what
Forgive, Doubt, some of us are hurried and so often literal
@dalehileman,
Does "rated their couple relationship positively" mean the exact same thing as "rated their marriage positively"? Thanks.
@Doubtful,
Don't like the first so well as it might imply extra-marital activity
@Doubtful,
I agree. I'd go with "rate their marriage"
