Ever since I first noticed that I liked the wall behind some paintings I was keen on from the Phillips Collection shown at the Santa Barbara Museum, this back in the seventies, I've been interested in what I think works with different types of art. Now lots of museums and galleries use color. How about you?
I'm reminded of this today, looking at a photo in the Guardian -
"Anna Reynolds, curator for the Royal Collection, views two portraits of Francis Stuart, Duchess of Richmond, dressed in female and male outfits, at the Queen's Gallery in Buckingham Palace, London. The portraits form part of the In Fine Style: The Art of Tudor and Stuart Fashion exhibition which will open on 10 May." Photograph: Toby Melville/Reuters
I like that blue.
I think.
It backs up the darks while not just being more very dark and makes the lights sing.
Or does it?
I had a moderate blue living room once, and paintings looked good on it, looking at photos now, and so did the people in the room in those photos.
