I am looking for the source of this story...
I don't even know where I was told this story from. I have searched Google to no avail. Well I am wondering if anyone can shed light on if the story I was told is actually true...
The story goes, long ago in France, I think about the time of Napoleon, the city of Paris France became infatuated with giraffes, one could say giraffes were "in".
So everything was giraffe, giraffe handbags, giraffe clothes and giraffe hats.
Images of giraffes were plastered all over the city. Thus came a day for a public festival and so they decided to dedicate the festival to giraffes.
They had giraffes brought in especially for the occasion. As the parade got underway the giraffes were set to walk gingerly down the main street of the parade.
The people not really ever seeing giraffes were spooked by them to say the least and this got the giraffes excited. So the giraffes went berserk and ran trampling the people on the sidelines of the parade.
I was told this was the inspiration for the story of King Kong.
Can anyone link this story to an actual event?

@RexRed,
Every book I have ever read in one of the Scandinavian languages is just a different combination of 29 letters.
@saab,
We've got one more: 30 letters
@Walter Hinteler,
Am I correct that the German alphabet is the only one , which has a letter which never ever can start a word? Letter ß.
@saab,
Not sure, if it's the only one, but there isn't a single word starting with "ß" in German.
@Walter Hinteler,
Tiny Iceland has 32 letters in the alphabet even thu they do not have these letters: C, Q, W och Z.
The giraffes thing rings a bell. I might have read that or something similar. If I did, it was in The Greater Journey, Americans in Paris, by David McCullogh.
No giraffes mentioned in the index, but... that doesn't mean he didn't mention giraffes somewhere in the book.
I found the book interesting, giraffes or not.
