@saab,
A lot of times when houses are shown in the real estate section of the San Francisco Chronicle, some company comes in and adds furniture - right this minute I forget what you call that business process. Not sure that was done in this case, but if so, re the chairs, maybe someone was in a hurry.

I like bench seats by windows too..

@ossobuco,
Were the chairs facing television screens that were hidden behind a bank of cupboard doors?

The latest in apartments in Sweden now is no sidetables in the bedrooms.
Personally Ido not know where they then put lampts, books, radio, alarm and other odds and ends one has net to a bed.

@ossobuco,
I remembered what they call those people - stagers, as they stage the furnishings.

@vonny,
You're probably correct - will go look..

Meantime, I just checked the site again and started to read the comments below the article. The very first one said that (the commenter) wished that someone had staged this one...

I usually read the comments as they can be interesting, but this time I was too busy trying to post the photo and missed the comments.

@saab,
Hmmm. Maybe they don't like to read in bed ever.

@ossobuco,
I just looked - the seating is very odd there. And - there probably is media stuff in those cabinets.

@ossobuco,
OK someone does not like to read in bed.
What about the rest one puts on a bedside table? A radio, an alarmclock, the glasses, a glass of water, a glass for your false teeth, the telephone, a telephone book, a pen, a newspaper, your watch, hearing aid.
I can imagen a lot of things one could use a table for.

@saab,
I completely agree with you. Besides, the lighting on the walls in that photo is very lame.

Maybe there were two beaten up bedside tables and the owner didn't have time to buy two new ones? No, they did those light contraptions where they did on purpose. Odd.

But, you say this is a trend? seems a dumb one.

I don't like that OCD/too clean look. I also don't like the exposed lamp wire like that either. It looks too improvised and done on the cheap.
