@tsarstepan,
Ah, cantilevering, I remember designing that way once or twice... tricky stuff, depending on where you are. I/we didn't do homes though.

@tsarstepan,
Reminds me of the house we saw in Hawaii (the Big Island). It was two round capsules of the same size.

On the rant about this fashion of putting the room with the most potential mess factor right on top of a room you might want to keep even slightly formal...

What is it with this anyway? "Oh, I want to be with my guests while I'm preparing my special paella and drinking a crisp cold AlbariƱo while wearing a white linen tunic."

Yeah, that's an everyday thing.

For God's sake, at least make an attempt to separate what is essentially a work area. Or take your woodcrafting out of the garage and put it on the coffee table.

Now these are nice, and not completely cut off...

BTW WOW!

I really love this. Although I would pull that wall over more of the kitchen.

What I super like about this is; no dining room.

@chai2,
We bought our home in the mid 1970s for $52,000. Nobody knew it would eventually become the "Heart of Silicon Valley." Yes, we updated everything from top to bottom, but it's now worth between $1.8 million and $2 million. That's what I call porn!
What is nice about our zip code is the fact that we have several great universities in the area; San Jose State, Santa Clara University and Stanford. We are lucky because Kaiser built their hospital one block from where we live. Apple's Campus 2 is but a few blocks away. We have several parks and libraries in the area, and easy access to Highway 280 and 101. It's close enough to Santa Cruz and San Francisco (less than 1 hour) and Yosemite National Park (4 hour drive). We lived in Naperville, Illinois, when I worked for Florsheim Shoe Company, but the climate and missing family and friends were too many sacrifices.

I love this one. Lots of light and openness but still can be closed off if desired.

@tsarstepan,
Uh huh. You could also make the glass translucent or opalescent for more separation if wanted The kitchen to me is more functional as the dining room table can be used as a workspace. You could employ large cutting boards (perhaps super glued together) to keep from damaging the table.
