In our area, homes are similar in most respects as far as the exterior is concerned. We have done some renovations to our home to make it a little bit larger - by about 100 sq ft. Some have added second floors, but not many. Some expansions are quite large. Some have renovated the interiors of their homes, and I often wonder what they may now look like. When we bought in the mid-1970's, it was just a bedroom community for people working in San Jose and San Francisco, and other close by communities. We are now in the heart of Silicon Valley, and some of the biggest hi tech companies are based in our city and environs. Apple just built a huge campus in our city about 3 miles from where we live. These developments have increased the value of our homes 38 times. We couldn't afford to buy our own home. One of the greatest benefits living here is that Sunnyvale, CA, is considered the safest city in the country.
