There's always the option where you can always drop down the photograph and "close" the view to the bathroom.

@tsarstepan,
I saw there is an option where I can drop down the photograph as long as I am in the bedroom, but that is out of control when I am not there and another person is in the bedrom.

@saab,
I call that option eviction of said person and/or restraining order also against said person. Wink

Haven't looked at Saab's link yet -

This set of photos is of a waterfront home in Sausalito, across the bay from San Francisco. Quite a luxe place. Many years ago, the sister of my cousin's mother lived in Sausalito in a rustic sort of wood shingled house high on the hill. I'd only been there once, but liked it a lot. Don't think I've a photo from the outside. Anyway, very different from the house in this article.

I'm only up to photo #8 and I already like the house in Saab's link better than the sleek one in Sausalito. It has more charm and livability to me..

Ah, the drying hydrangeas! I used to do that.

@ossobuco,
The windows above the terass how do you ever wash them???From inside looking out you can see there is not any other way than a very high ladder.

By the way was reading an article about modern interior decorating in Denmark and an interior decorator was complaning about that the Danes now like too much white. walls, furnitures, too little paintings and other personal items.

@saab,
Since the house costs something like 7 million dollars, I think you have the money to hire a company with specialized equipment and leave for a short vacation the day they do it. Only half kidding. The house seems huge to me, and maybe a maintenance problem.

My observation that may or may not be true was that back when I lived in California, a lot of places' interiors were painted white before sale, that colors of one hue or another might put buyers off. Art galleries used to be white fairly often but I think a lot of that has changed over the years.

@ossobuco,
We have white walls too .
White or offwhite is best for hanging pictures, with coloured furniture andfor me it is relaxing.
Wallpapers with patters, curtains with another pattern, oriental carpets and other colourful mixings makes me nervous.
I don´t mind colours nor patterns at all - just have to give a warm and relazing impression.

@saab,
Needless to say, my dream home would mostly be a library AKA space for books.

@saab,
Mine are white now, but if I ever remodel this place, it's getting colored walls. The Getty and Santa Barbara art museum, last I saw them, had colored walls, and in memory so did a lot of the italian museums I was in.

I think I took this photo at the de Young museum in San Francisco - I've got the artist's name somewhere, but not at the tip of my tongue.

I'm crazy for libraries small or large, old style or modern, in or out of houses.

@Lordyaswas,
Seems like a deal, Lordy. I'm not clear, though, if the buyer would own only part of the property or only the house and not the land or what I take to be a castle that confuses me (is that a conservatory?).
I haven't looked at the photos yet, need to ready my blood pressure for the adventure.

Depending on the above and what the inside looks like, it could be a neat deal at that number. Bet it goes for more. Let us know, eh? I wait with bated breath.

Did you know I hate fast slide shows? Why would they want you to speed through? Is the slide show designer bored? (this bothers me on newspaper and magazine website too - never time to read the captions and look at the photos) Gonna look one by one.

@ossobuco,
Haven't even finished the slide show. Love it, and whoever picked the colors knew, in my view, somewhat what he or she was doing. I want that kitchen, by the way. But it won't fit in my place. Or maybe in my whole block.

Oh, and the books are tilted, not good for them.

@Lordyaswas,
Let us all get together and open up B&B - if we ever have time to spend outside the library.

I would not mind a nice cosy extra room with red walls.
