@ossobuco,
nomnomomnomnom - delish! Haven't had anchovies for a long long time - must buy some today when I go shopping. Sleep well! And thanks for the snack - it will keep me going until lunchtime Cool

I like the idea of your spicy green peppers - haven't tried doing that - good idea.

@ossobuco,
I think I had a ministroke looking at the photos of that evil purple house. It has to be haunted for sure! Shocked

I'm not a big christmas fan, but I also don't hate at it's base, in the home. I'm a native of Los Angeles. I spent a lot of years traveling large miles to relatives'places, huge miles in bad traffic, getting home at 2 a.m. and working up to go to inlaws another million miles away christmas morning.

We mostly didn't have our own feasts (we did that on thanksgiving from time to time) so christmas was on the road.

We had gatherings of friends at our house the weekend after. Much saner and more delicious, looser and goosier.

@saab,
I'm going to assume that the junk in that house is leaving with the former owners so I'm not sure that the owners inability to sell the house can strictly be blamed on the home's excessive furnishings and accessorizings.

@tsarstepan,
Inside, the bones look ok enough at a quick glance and stuff is removable by the present owner (or is that all part of the sale?). But the house design in the outdoor photo makes me say no. On the other hand, I say no to a lot of places, being ms. picky - part of the fun. I also think others would probably be fine with the house as seen in the exterior view, sans added stuff - so I'm not quite getting the place not selling, except for market reasons.

@Lordyaswas,
I just noticed your link, oh lordafoot, and spent a happy time rereading. That is one of my top favorite threads here, vying with one by tai chi and one, on a different subject, by joenation.

But - all, if you haven't seen it or even if you have -

@tsarstepan,
No, the largest one is a massive painting of Mont Blanc at the end of my brother's garden near Geneva.

He keeps trying to fool me that it's the real thing, but it definitely looks like a muriel to me.

Why is it called real estate porn?
Porn for me is shortening for pornography and not a positiv word.
Real estate porn would have made me look for ..........

I think that this perfect monstrosity sums up Real Estate Porn.

This place, believe it or not, is located in the road where I lived as a young teenager, and has been built in the garden of another big older house where my friend used to live. I knew, and still know, most of the people in that road, and most of them are now selling up and moving away to the coast or country simply because Radlett prices have been going through the roof in recent years.
It has always been expensive, owing to the numerous TV and Film studios that dot the area, but with the advent of the oligarchs and their penchant for paying silly money in and around London, the lid has been blown off the upper price limits.
This thing is modern and no expense has been spared to "Beverley Hills" it so that it imitates a baronial hall, but give me the real McCoy any day.

Candy Floss Mediaeval, or what?

£12,000,000 they want for this.....http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-36028615.html?premiumA=true

It even has a stuffed bear at the top of the stairs!

@Lordyaswas,
Money and taste certainly don´t go hand in hand.
Only people on ego trips can live here. An enourmous area for parent/s and two small bedrooms for children.
The rest of the house is just for showing off. No area for guest staying over for a night or two or more.
No place where children can play. It is a nightmare.

@Lordyaswas,
Aside from the ugliness, that looks like a place I'd break my neck trying to get around in. What is that tripper-upper just behind the curved couch? I suppose I should look at the link..

@saab,
On the thread title, I take it as something some people can hardly stop looking at while getting pleasure out of looking..

I'm not interested in actual pornography, for example, but I look at an immense amount of websites about food and restaurants, far more than through any need I have to go to a restaurant, say, in New York or Paris or Tokyo, or find out how to best braise some meat I can't afford in the first place. But I still get a kick out of looking/reading.

Just a few days ago, it made my day to read about the ten best coffee bars in Rome, a place I'll never get to again. I literally was happier after I read all that and saw photos of the caffes.

Rather like I got a kick out of seeing that first house I posted, the one designed by Julia Morgan.

@ossobuco,
Hmm, a tangent away from real estate, just in case anyone reading might enjoy seeing those coffee bars -

@ossobuco,
That was fun to look at the bars and cafees - something I never would do on my own.
I use the internet to read newspapers, play patience and other games and to look up things.
It is endless what I like to look up. Like the other day here was about Jensen Beach - then I have to find out why it is Jensen. Of course a Dane.
I read a Swedish, a Danish, a German and an English paper every day and my husbond added an Italian and French. Now and then also an American.
Now I have the problem I have to pay for them - it is fair but which one do I want to pay for?
