Thyed sell it all elsewhere and wed wind up buying it at even higher prices as a pass through.

I remember price controls on steel stock, under Nixon, I believe. The price of 1" bar stock was frozen. It became "unavailable". Fortunately, 1 1/16" bar stock could be had. Nonstandard, custom rolled products were not controlled. We got the higher price anyway, and only had to turn down an extra 1/16" to get what we needed.
