I know we have "experts" among our long-time participants, people with Ph.D.s and other graduate degrees. But most do not often make contributions relative to their fields of expertise. I suspect it's because they want to "branch out" from their special areas and enjoy the general challenges and opportunities of A2K discussions.

If a poster is obviously seeking expert advice and we reply, we should
acknowledge our non-expert status. (Unless we really are experts in the
field.) In the Latin forum, I have standard disclaimer I issue when the
poster requests an expert or it seems to me that the poster wants a
translation for a tattoo or an engraving or something permanent.

As to homework help, I have no problem with helping as long as we
demand some input from the poster

@George,
However, declaring oneself an "expert" is an oxymoron. Mr. Green
