And by the standards of that era, a "liberal" would be a libertarian today.
This is beautiful. I was hoping something like this would happen. I think that politicians in the U.S. today (and probably for as long back as we can all remember) have been pitting everyone against each other. That is the real problem in politics today. The "issues" of each candidate are really not all that important. It's the core of "us" against "them" that both parties really want to perpetuate. When we see that there really is no "us" and "them" then we can start to change the system. Until that time, we'll always be arguing over crap like gay marriage and abortion. It's bigger than that.
Let's evolve ideas, so that we can get past all this meaninless bickering. That's what I am hoping for.
