Anyone Currently work with NY Local Sales Tax?

The company I work for recently got into a higher sales market in NY and I am now learning this.
I suppose anyone who does Sales Tax in California has more to gripe about but, my gosh.

Is there just a large learning curve here or does it take up an unreasonable amount of time?
