I see it in red...mostly on threads dealing with sexual dysfunction.

What does it mean?

@ossobuco,
Ummm...I do not understand, Ossobuco. Is this some kind of insider joke at A2K...a clever way of saying, "This person doesn't have a full bag of clubs?"

I must admit that some of the threads that have that designation sound like nets from nut cases, but the designation seems odd.

@Frank Apisa,
It's a bit of a warning for people who browse A2k from work that it may be a thread that might get picked up by company computer censors if it is opened.

@Frank Apisa,
No, would I yank your chain? This isn't about religion, is it?
NFSW is something like that, I misremembered.
Here's where I'll check - urbandictionary.com.

This is all beyond my ken - corporations have i.t. departments and manage great phlanges of computer networks. They apparently vary in what they allow on the corporate computers, and I gather that messing up can be bad news for malefactors.

@Frank Apisa,
You should have asked 'What does NSFW mean?"
NSFW is the proper slang.
Here is a short introduction to it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Not_safe_for_work
The next relevant question is does this site need to utilize such a tag? I personally don't think so.

@ossobuco,
Nay...I don't think you would yank my chain, Ossobuco.

But now that Beth explained it further...I understand.

Wow!

It is a different world we live in.

I am so far behind.

Thanks to both of youse...I am not going to hit the "choose this answer button", because you both were of help.

This designation helps the site, I think, as the mods can not have to spend crazy hours on decisions -

we can do it ourselves. Plus, arguably more free speech.

Towards these aims we are introducing a new NSFW feature that allows for members to report posts that are Not Safe For Work through the normal topic and post reporting buttons. Moderators will mark topics and posts that are NSFW that follow our definition thereof. These topics and posts will not be removed, but will be marked with a “NSFW” flag (and posts are collapsed by default). Anyone who wants to see the content can still do so on a case-by-case basis or members can edit their user preferences if they don’t want to collapse NSFW posts at all.

This NSFW flag allows us to better serve the different portions of our community. For example, no longer will we be editing out graphic images, and replacing them with links. Moderators will simply mark posts NSFW and those who want to see them can, and those who do not don’t have to, problem solved.
