More thoughts -
I said I was for the NSFW system as it saves the site mods from spending huge efforts to cut posts or threads and the decision making involved in that - but I failed to mention that I also think it is a leap to both freer speech and putting the decisions for whether to read or not to the site readers.
What am I going to do about it - chuck all the NSFWs? nah. Read them all, nah.
So far, I might read if folks I know have responded, and most of those times, the content is mild.

On NSFW as a tool for a2kers -
I've not worked in the corporate world that at least sometimes (I gather) heavily monitors the computer activities of their employees; some, I take it, are fairly forgiving if one does some moderate or mild bit of non computer time while on the job as long as the job gets well done, but with serious repercussion if employees check what are considered iffy sites. This is all hearsay to me personally, but they seem well within their rights to monitor like that.

I worked for nearly fifty years in some demanding jobs and even before computers were in ordinary offices, in those jobs we found ways to take small breaks when there weren't deadlines full stream ahead. In the lab, we had a jig saw puzzle going on a side counter. The head guy would join in wide ranging conversations with the rest of us and some of those would go on for quite a while. A lot of us followed what was going on in chess matches of the time. Later when I owned or co owned or consulted at firms - then in the design world - I would research by computer re both art and design, for something I was working on, or just for interest, and see what was going on at a2k. My partner would fool away some time looking up art and design sites, but also her interests in some sports.

All the same, in both fields I often worked huge hours in a row on some deadline, with the rare bathroom break. I haven't punched a time clock since my beginning years, but I have kept very honest track of my hours for billing purposes.

So, different companies are have different styles on all this.

In temporary summary, I think I like the new system.
I'm still not quite clear that if we find some major ick that we should still report it. (I'll ask, if that happens).

Hi merry, sorry but I missed your note. His self gave her self an iPad for Christmas so now we don't wrestle over who spends time on the computer.
The iPad gives me flexibility, but I can't type as quickly as I can on a regular key board. Thanks again for remembering me and I have to say I'm happy to see so many old friends here on A2K. The old forum is practically defunct, glad you folks are here. Cheers from rotten ol glitterbag
