How can President Obama, who has seen this calamity and corruption with his own eyes, have the heart to suggest that background checks and a toothless weapons ban have much at all to do with stopping tragedies like Hadiya’s?

Background checks and toothless weapons bans are not needed if guns are banned altogether and the cops are set to chasing those who refuse to conform.

That is not going to happen in the US as we are not going to disarmed like the UK had done so such a program as you had suggested is not even science fiction it is fantasy.

Footnote the cops are outnumbers by a hundred to one by armed citizens so having them chasing all the guns owners would be amusing to say the least with tens of thousands of Wacos would burned through the nation total law enforcement personal in short order.

We are not going to be safer. More than likely the legal ownership of guns is going to increase...and the shootings and killings, already way, way, way above the number in any other developed country ARE GOING TO INCREASE ALSO.

The national homicide rate for 2011 was 4.8 per 100,000 citizens — less than half of what it was in the early years of the Great Depression, when it peaked before falling precipitously before World War II. The peak in modern times of 10.2 was in 1980, as recorded by national criminal statistics.

However if you wish to drop the murder rate further end the war on drugs and thousands of people a year in the US will not end up dead every year and more then that in such supplying countries as Mexico.

Just look at gun violence in Chicago.

Focus on Chicago, DC, NYC and other cities that have strict, draconian gun laws
that prevent law abiding Americans from exercising their constitutional rights.
