@north,
C.I.: "god committed suicide when he didn't stop Charles Darwin".
Why would He be negative about Darwin's findings? Darwin was only studying "God's way of fueling growth and change in His creation, Nature.

Darwin didn't believe in god , his wife did but not him ( that was some of his conundrum )

also at the time , to go aganist god , was a major risk to himself as well

@north,
That's true; Darwin had struggles within himself before he published his works, because he knew it was contrary to the message of the bible.

@Randall Patrick,
Let's say, for humor sake mind you, that there is a God. By all religious definition yes, he could kill himself. However due to the laws of nature, which even those I don't fully believe in, we can say that he cannot kill himself because he isn't "here". God is said to be able to be in two places at once, because he can do anything, so is it outside the realm of thought to believe he can be dead and alive at the same time? I don't think so.

If man can create gods, man can also have those same gods commit suicide.

@cicerone imposter,
According to Nietzsche, "God" (the mythical Creator) was MURDERED by humankind, beginning with the Enlightenment and the decline of the political power of the Church.

@JLNobody,
When you say "humankind," billions still believe in god(s). He's still "alive and well" in many people's minds.

@cicerone imposter,
True, but most of those millions no longer grant the Church all the secular powers it enjoyed before the Enlightenment. In some respects Science is the new "religious cosmology".

@JLNobody,
That's also true, but one wonders why so many continue to "believe" when science has overturned so much of what they used to believe.

@cicerone imposter,
I often wonder if they truly believe or if they are simply performing the ritual act of saying that they do. I don't know, of course.

@JLNobody,
If my siblings are examples of believers, it's what they truly believe.
