And now for something completely different - we are in our first heatwave of the summer - 103 - 105 F. Anyone got snow? We can melt it for you....... all the cats are flat and long. Does anyone remember the discussion about telling the temperature from the length of the cat? - I think it was on the Raven's Realm - well, I have now noticed that flatness is a factor - flatness, length, and floppiness. I got all three - my cats are flatly flopping their full lengths at my feet as we speak...

as a cat approaches the sun, it grows in length to the point where the sun can nestle in its navel, like a wee fusionary carbuncle.
Mikey's length lengthens in the heat, but there's only so flat he can get. He's mighty big. I think smaller cats languish with great aplomb. Big cats just languish. I've seen films of lions languishing in the heat of the African day. Those guys can languish. They look like all the bones in their bodies have melted. Still there's only so flat a big cat can get.
I'm sympathetic to the heatwave. After this past summer here in the Baked Apple, I'm sympathetic to any heat problems. Don't like the heat much myself. I neither lengthen nor flatten in the heat. I mostly just kvetch and sweat. Oh, I also occasionally whine.
Heat is wonderful. These days I hop in the car and crank the heat up so's my own decidedly uncatlike muscles can stretch out. Oh, to have the flexible spine of a fee-line...
I believe, unlike the ever elegant cat, that I puff up.......

Well, only 3 days to go, counting today, before some well-earned holidaying.....I wonder how many hours - well, approx 23 working hours...minutes?.....hmm times sixty= 1380, I think ..... mental arithmetic was never my forte ... 'twould be too depressing to count the seconds... hey! some of that is staff Christmas lunch! Hurrah!!!

Also, please remember that you were the one who titillated us with the possibility of nipples in the place of buttons. Or maybe you weren't....anyway, you usually manage to get us over stimulated which is much the same thing as titillated, just, possibly, not as much fun...but then who said anything about having fun? Oh, of course you did, Deb, getting ready for your holiday when you will not only wear a thong on your bum, but on your feet as well. Aren't there other uses for thongs? Perhaps as pieces of clothing, but I digress, even more than usual.
