Apparently I tend to put in photos in the middle of the page, so this hasn't happened with me lately. Famous last words.

A bump is pretty much a blank post. Sometimes, it's done to get a thread to show up in your own list of posts. Now, it's mostly to force a thread to show the first few posts on a page. I don't know about stuff like that.
