Fox News Captions Footage Of Illegal Border Crossings With ‘The Hispanic Vote’

Since Mitt Romney lost the Hispanic vote in record numbers on Election Day, some Republican lawmakers and conservative pundits have openly conceded that the party has a “rhetoric” problem when it comes to the Latino vote and have begun advocating for comprehensive immigration reform.

However, the GOP’s new-found eagerness to appeal to Latinos took a hit on Thursday afternoon when Fox News ran a segment about “The Hispanic Vote In 2012″ and proceeded to show stock footage of people crossing the border illegally:

The United States has hit net zero on illegal immigration, as fewer people are trying to cross the border illegally. In fact, a recent report found that more Mexicans appear to be leaving the United States for Mexico than are leaving Mexico for the U.S.A for the first time since the Great Depression.

Exit polls show that 71 percent of Latinos voted to re-elect President Obama.

@revelette,
Most people who are in this country illegally haven't sneaked across any border.They enter the country with a visa, and just don't bother to leave when the visa expires.

Faux News also forgets that illegals don't vote.

Latino voters include Cubans, and those from Central and South America, and not just those from Mexico. And their concerns go far beyond just the immigration issue. George W. didn't just harp about immigration, but Romney did, which helps to explain why Bush picked up 40% of the Latino vote in 2004 and Romney came nowhere near that. Romney just failed to address the interests and concerns of most Latinos and he lost their support.

In addition, the Romney team made all sorts of gaffs, and just didn't play it smart, in trying to appeal to Latino voters. They definitely screwed-up strategically with that demographic.

it is because you are too serious...they are only here to play.

on what grounds? the only one that I can imagine being valid is disturbing the peace, but any site owner who even dreams of owning a site that values truth and open discussion would be a fool to pull the trigger with nothing more than that. Roberts problem is that he seems to want this to be a happy clubhouse but he also fancies himself as person who cares about truth and freedom of speech. he cant have both.

a lot of those alleged good people who are gone now are gone because they cant stomach being confronted with ideas which contradict their world view. their goodness is vastly overstated in my opinion.

@raprap,
This headline is kind of funny!

Quote:
Republicans: GOP needs to get with the times

They now want to appeal to Hispanics, women, and gays and lesbians. It's Romney all over again! They want to "hide" the truth to get more votes to win elections, not to work for the best interest of minorities, women, or gays and lesbians.

Will it work? I don't think so.

Porn isn’t illegal to post but when you start with messaging young females on the internet and asking for photos that’s another story. Wink

in conversation what you say needs to have some relationship to what others are saying, as well as to reality.

you fail here. please try to do better in the future.

@Sloan,
For the life of me, I can't understand why hawkeye has continued to respond to you.

You are just the sort of clown this forum would do well in banning.

There are any number of arguments that can be made in criticism of hawkeye (as there are with just about every member who stirs debate) but you've chosen an absurd sexual allegation that strongly suggests that you are either actually a 7th grader or that your intellectual development came to a grinding halt when you attended Middle School.

No doubt with each idiotic comment posted you leaned back in your chair with a smug sense of satisfaction.

"How f*cking cool am I!" You most assuredly mused. "I gave it to this guy in the nuts!"

The downside of the internet and a forum like this is that any stunted fool can play what he thinks is the role of bad-ass.

There was a time when you could only get away with this sort of shite if you were big and powerful, far more glib than you are, or courageous and fast.

Betting dollars to donuts you are anything but any of these.

The door is open though and look what the cat dragged in.

@raprap,
This mornings NYT had an article about how Romneys BIG donors (and there were a few who kicked in 20 or more million), felt that Chris Christies sidling up to Pres Obama had delt Romney the fatal blow.

Seems that Christie merely repeated his statement that, at a time like this, the health of his state v Hissown future in the GOP ascendency list: He stated that there wasnt any decision that he had to fret over.
Seems now that the prty is demanding all sorts of incredible acts of
fealty. Wonder whether Christie's gonna cave.

The GOP deservs to keep pushing up on their lists of potential candidates. Right now Gov Jindahl stands on a high rung.

They just dont get it.

@spendius,
ll amend my previous conclusion
:They,(and spendi), just dont get it"

If they act like a pack of "Purity of essence" assholes, they deserve what they fet.
GOP acts all "Conservativy" in the primaries, an they wish only the most conservative to remain standing. Then, in the NAtional ELections their candidate has to run back to the center because thats undeniably, where the most people live.

So when the "PArty Kingmakers" demand purity of essence and they get someone like Christie, (Who could actually carry the nation in a presidential election if he lost about 250 pounds and watched his mouth more carefully), they dont have a uckin clue what to do. The post election analyses have been so funny that theyve blamed everything except aliens for Romneys loss.

Yep, clueless are they who ride the elephant
