Denzel Washington tops list of actors who should play Jesus
By Courtney Hazlett, TODAY
It's fun to play armchair director, and tapping into that fantasy is exactly what Vanity Fair and "60 Minutes" did in a new online poll. They asked: "If you were directing a new film version of the New Testament, which actor would you cast to play Jesus?"
I am thinking, either Johnny Depp or Kevin Spacey. Johnny could give it that Michael Jackson/Willie Wonka persona. Kevin could play Jesus looking back from the perspective of the older man Jesus might have been, had he not been crucified so young - the way he did Bobby Darin.

@edgarblythe,
There is only one answer.
Jesus Christ should make his acting debut by playing himself.

deNiro's probably too old by now. At one time he would have been perfect. Or, maybe, Tom Hanks. But, again, age is creeping up. What was Jesus -- in his 30s, supposedly? -- when they nailed him up?

@edgarblythe,
Christian Bale, just after seeing this yesterday.
(Explicit)
Not sure how old Denzel Washington is, but he is much older than 33. My favorite movie Jesus is Max von Sydow. Getting serious for the moment, I don't know enough younger actors to have a good opinion.
