Sure. I remember sugar beets from my time in Germany. They would dig a little trench in a slope, fill it with sugar beets, and recover till winter.

This past week I was on an xtended field trip with some colleagues and we stayed at all kinds of hotels from Pa to Vermont. The discussion of bedbugs came up and we found a registry that you can view on yer phone to see whether the 5 star hotel (usually near the airports) have any reports of bedbugs.

My mother's borscht usually had meat in it, though ... & a dollop of sour cream in it at the end. Which made it a weird pink colour.
The thought of which just made me feel a bit queasy ...
