Dream Team Choice For Kerry?

One, very obviously, John Edwards for V.P., whose similar popularity would worry the Bush Administration.

Two, alternatively, former President Bill Clinton, who is not barred by the Constitution from standing as Vice President and could almost certainly destroy the Bush Administration single handed.

I don't think either one, John.

Kerry and Edwards don't get on famously, and Clinton is, well, Clinton.

Kerry won't even pick a running mate until summer, closer to the convention, and then will do so on the basis of which person would help him get votes he wouldn't otherwise.

My speculation is beginning to center around a Midwestern politician who can help carry Ohio, Michigan, or Pennsylvania.

I don't think much of the South, including Florida, is in play and that diminishes the chances of a Bob Graham, a Bill Richardson, or a Wesley Clark.

It could be a person below the radar at this point.

Ya gotta spell this stuff out fer the goys and birls, Fishin':

Amendment XII reads, in part:

. . . But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

First of all, to have a Dream Team you would have to start by removing Kerry.

Getting along famously is not a requirement for the job...

Right now, I'm thinking Clark.

What about Dean? He finally won a primary state (even if it was his own).

Simple Geography... Kerry/Dean covers a very small region of the country...

I think clark looks like a nice gentle guy and he seems to have a good sense of humor. But I don't see him as the VP, more like a secretary of defense or state. I think Kerry should pick Edwards, now while people are interested in knowing.

Richardson is a possibility, as he's a Latino, which might help appeal to that segment of the population. But he comes from a really small state...Edwards had nice things to say about Kerry last night; I was unaware that they didn't get along.

I'm not sure that would bar Clinton from running as vice president.

I AM NOT SURE!

Do you know for certain that Clinton or Reagan, for that matter, would be barred from the vice presidential spot?

Seems to me the two term amendment (XXII) talks only about being "elected" to the office again.

And the quote you mentioned above may refer to other kinds of eligibility factors (age, citizenship).

I'd like to know for sure.
