@spendius,
yeah, but that is mostly just ragman.

the rest of 'em usually pick with some conviction.

here's something to think about...

what if that character really is J P Losman, and he really is now working at a seven eleven, instead of being a less than average NFL quarterback.

that's kinda sad.

and might serve to explain the bizarre anti-social behavior.

either that, or the guy's just a dick...

@Rockhead,
What? Mostly just me? WTF?
I'm hadly unique in that. Why am I being dragged into this mishigas?

Reality check here... I've made I THINK one single change this year. Last year I might have made 2 or 3. I made them within the framework of the rules and in the manner that was suggested by the person running the show.

Why is this now about tossing me under the bus?

@Rockhead,
Wah-wahh! They're picking on me. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

tease away.

FWIW, I finally had look up who JP Losman was. I had forgotten he was a long lost QB. Was it for the Dolphins?

So far I've seen no argument to indicate that I have been wrong with my statements at any level.

Are we to suffer because the dude who runs this is to not be inconvenienced?

Yes. The argument that there is no need to change picks if you wait until the deadline to post your final choice. What's the point of posting picks on Tues that you intend changing if it is not to inconvenience John.

@spendius,
how does the over-under line incorporate into your game, spendimus?

@Ragman,
I remembered he was a QB after Rockhead brought it up.

Geez, he went to Venice High. I lived a few blocks from there.

@ossobuco,
I love the game too, football and this thread.

Who else here was in love with Paul Hornung at seventeen while being told she had a vocation to be a nun? (Boy, was I confused.) I got that way (crush on Paul Hornung) listening to Notre Dame games on the radio at work at a hospital. But I liked the game first.

I've already explained in my chat with Spendius that I value football for different elements than his own interest. I could elaborate on that, but not in this present climate.

I have found that the use of emoticons is helpful when one is taking the piss with RM.

@Rockhead,
JP Losman's teams:

Buffalo Bills (2004–2008)
Las Vegas Locomotives (2009)
Oakland Raiders (2009)
Seattle Seahawks (2010)
Miami Dolphins (2011)

And...speaking of degenerates and locomotives:

@Ragman,
I see.

that explains things.

I have had the Sporano / big fat Tuna years expunged from my consciousness...

mebbe they were just trying to copy the Las Vegas Locomotives playbook.

@spendius,
I post the schedule for the week on Monday or Tuesday. Predictions for the Thursday night game are due before kickoff and I encourage players to choose the remaining games at the same time. If they do that, I allow them to change picks prior to the start of the 1st game on Sunday.
Why do you suppose I do that? Because some people work and/or travel and may not get home until Friday or Saturday. Or there may be a hurricane or snowstorm. And I would have to track them down and nag them on Saturday night or Sunday morning. I am good at nagging but I hate resorting to that.
Are you with me on the logic so far?

Not really. I don't see why you should have to nag. The onus is on the players.

Unless you enjoy nagging. The Thursday game might be excluded.

I still think farmerman's criticism is valid as I did at the time. As I did before he offered it. Giving an advantage to overdog pickers is unknown in the betting industry because there would be no betting industry otherwise.

Green Bay are --10 on Sunday. Which is about 6 gets 1. Your method gives GB pickers evens. Which is an unfair advantage over Tico. If GB win in OT Tico gets +10. Deservedly. In your game he loses 1 and GB pickers win 1. Undeservedly.

I am just interested in the comparison between our two final tables. The winner in my game is the best judge of football. That cannot be said for the winner in your game.

A great deal depends on the motives of the players. NFL players are expected to play to win and it is a bit incongruous if we use their efforts in a game not played to win. UnAmerican even. The "aw shucks, ain't I a gump" approach for losers is unAmerican surely? Anti-evolutionary as well. The stock market runs on spreads.

I keep telling people that I am more American than most Americans.
