@Rockhead,
What, we're having a discussion? Why does someone always have to try to divert attention?

Leave your tactics behind and join the conversation.

@JPLosman0711,
play nice, and I don't have to.

I have a lot of work to do, and football is almost as far down my list as spendimus is...

@JPLosman0711,
then you must be way too young and naive for me to enjoy bantering with you.

come back when you get some seasoning.

seriously, I think the political threads are right up your alley.

useless perfectly describes finn and some of the other conservative boobs we have here.

lighten up a little, grasshopper...

@Rockhead,
There are so many things I want to say but I can't pick just one nor am I willing to take the time required to fully outline them extensively and correctly.

It would go something along the lines of people always bringing in age and gender, expecting the other to pre-existingly accept these as valid specifications and/or classifications for the argument or discussion.

@Rockhead,
You offer no option for further direction, though. Am I supposed to take your 'advice' and simply find a way to make myself older? How am I to see what you have indicated as anything but an attempt to make yourself feel better all while putting me down?

Isn't it much more plausible that this is just your tactic which is common but none-the-less commonly effective? I don't think I can too easily go along with the idea that you don't already see this.

@JPLosman0711,
spendius will no doubt return tomorrow.

I suggest you ask him about it...

(just the thought of having an admirer will make him giddy like a schoolgirl)

What would you like to know?

@Ticomaya,
I have no idea. Uxoriousness takes many forms. Asserting misogyny in others is not one of them.

Estimable ladies consider anything less that 100% uxoriousness to be misogyny.

Concerning "caring about football" . . .

I have no doubt realjonboy is being perfectly honest when he says he
does not care about football. The same for ehBeth and some others.
But I do. That is to say, I enjoy watching the game, talking about the
game, and back when the earth was young, playing the game.

Don't let my automatic picks for New England and against New York fool
you. That's not unconcern, that's arrogance. I think I can impose a
handicap on myself and still beat everyone else. (How's that workin out
for ya, George? Not so good lately.
)

I like our pick'em just the way it is and I also like spendius's additional
information about the spread. But I never go strictly on who's favored
because it's more fun if I can out-guess the smart money.

Tampa Bay at Minnesota tonight.
Are the Vikes for real?
Can the Bucs stop Adrian Peterson?
Am I the only one who gives a rat's patootie?

@George,
George, I can ditto that and agree on almost all that you wrote - including being a former Bostonian. Furthemore I've relocated in Tampa Bay area (Sarasota). I do closely follow and like football to the extent of even watching teams other than Boston or NE teams. (Can't discuss state of Red Sawx 'caise it hurts too deeply.)

My fandom extends to where my dog (avatar) is named Brady. You can draw a conclusion about my bias when it comes to Patriot's and how I cast votes football-wise. My only opposition against any sports team is with Dallas and perhaps the Yankees.

Oh tonight? Being local to FL I get the sense that TB will succumb to MN. TB's coach is a college coach with little clue of how to handle the NFL and pros style defense. IMHO, frankly, he's a bit of an embarassment so far. As for the Vikes, fairly good QB and Peterson seems to be back and with a venegance. TB seems to have a poor chance of being a .500 team.

Bottom line is I love puzzles and contests and it makes me happy - especially if it's peaceful.

@Ticomaya,
Most of the time I hold back on my 'insights' as most would call it.

You know a wise man once said to me: "When you're not bullshitting yourself no one wants to be around you, that's a big hint."
