The glass ceiling is a metaphor used to represent an invisible barrier that keeps a given demographic (in this case females) from rising beyond a certain level. A barrier in the careers of high-achieving women.
Women aren't given the opportunity. There is always going to be that glass ceiling which prevents us from reaching further than we already are. Men are always going to be superior, always want to feel superior as it has been for many, many years; in which women were mother and wives and that's all they could be. Now that women are gaining independence and entering the workforce, there is this glass ceiling which telling them that men will always be superior to them.
