No, no, I am thinking of italy in October next year, but I am just huffing and puffing about it - it is a mild possibility, and would involve me accrueing some money. But if I could go, as Walter has mentioned before, Germany is not far.

Once in Europe, all the countries are very close - and relatively cheap for transportation.

Miles and miles of miles and miles, msolga. Not interesting at all, I'm afraid.

Ooh, wait...there was one thing. As we were driving from one dried-up hellhole of a town to another, passing nothing but flat land and scrappy mesquite bushes wavering in the heat, a curious sight made us wonder if we were seeing things.

Just past the barbed wire fence at the side of the road, there was a herd of camels.

That's right, I said camels. Lawrence-of-Arabia-type beasts. Right there in the godforsaken West Texas scrublands. Grazing on mesquite, fer cryin' out loud.

No, I wasn't drinking. Or having a weird reaction to some medication. I checked. Twice.

Yep, those were camels.

Aw, Eva, this trip doesn't sound like it's been a fun experience! Sad
So it was more a PURPOSE trip than a FUN one?

So I'm in Texas over the weekend, on a camel purchasing mission, and just as I was striking the deal I happen to look up and see Eva driving by.

Talk about a small world.

Glad you're back, Montana! I will check the other threads to look for an update on your trip.

My husband's family lives in Wichita Falls, Texas, and his best friend lives in a tiny town west of there. We went to visit relatives for 3 days, that's all. Nothing else could have enticed me there. Wink

Those camels belonged to Gus? Well now, that explains everything. Next time you see me drive by, Gus, tip your hat & wave, will ya? Or flag me down. I would've stopped if I'd seen you.

I'm glad I'm back too :-D. Yes, my other threads explain my trip in detail, except for the ride back, which I haven't explained yet. I really need a new car!

I'm glad you're back too ;-)

Hi Letty. Dys and I are moving to Albuquerque late this week after a couple of months of house hunting, getting a mortgage and all the details of buying a house. I don't remember ever having to give out so much information about myself. Will they start to ask for a DNA sample next?

On one of our trips to New Mexico, we say a hawk flying through the air with a snake in its beak. It was awsome!

Eva seeing camels, Gus as Lawrence of Arabia and Montana safely back from a boring trip. Hey! Let's all visit Deb in Oz!!!

Oh no, Diane...did you forget to give them the DNA sample? I sure hope your mortgage doesn't fall through! Wink

Are you sure you were in NEW Mexico, Diane? If that bird with the snake in its beak landed on a cactus growing out of a rock, you'd be in OLD Mexico...Mexico City, to be exact. (Or Tenochtitlan, as the Aztecs called it. After all, that was their legend. See Mexican flag.)

So good to see my friends here...seen and unseen. I have always claimed that the human imagination is the final frontier. In my mind I went to Carolina tonight. My son, Dave, talked to me with strength and resolution.

Diane, put your name on the dotted line, honey. It's all academic in the long run.

A hawk--even the predators have a function on this planet. Roger's spider will be sorely missed, until he ends up in my shoe. Razz
