Hate Job? Or situation itself? or am i just nuts?

I just recently moved into another country. Left my old job (which sometimes was hard to go to but when i was there i would feel ok doing it) into the same type of job but, of course in a foreign country with a language that i barely speak. Since i already have some years of experience in the job(and its not an office job), and where i'm from we worked as a team,finding solutions, i thought here would be the same.I found myself being threatned that i'm here only to do what they tell me to do (oh, should i mention that i was invited to work here?),and if dont i could get a lawsuit...this after 2 months of what it felt to me like pure torture: not so friendly colleagues, neither helpfull (not even when i wouldnt be able to communicate properly, or when i would actually need physically help) so in those 2 months was pure sacrifice to go to work...All colapsed and i couldnt bare going there anymore.Tried to defend myself without, of course, success. Now, i'm for a few days off-sick because i simply cant stand the thought of going there anymore. What is up? Should i go back? Should i just simply quit? Or am i overreacting?

@nutsunderthetree,
Sounds to me like the company inadequately prepared you (if they did at all) for the cultural differences in the country and the company itself. Talk to HR; maybe there's a class you could take. And there might be other expats in the same boat who you could bond with.

@jespah,
Doesn't sound like that's the only problem though. I would be looking for another job where I came from. Perhaps the previous company?

@Mame,
Definitely - but the mentioning of being sued, I think it was, leads me to think there might be a contract here.

Two months is not enough time for you to make this assessment. YOU are the new person and may be perceived as the "foreign intruder" by your colleagues.

What have you done to reach out and/or attempt to enter into this new arena with humility and a willingness to learn from them?

I agree; talk with HR and try to sort this out. And get a langurage tutor ASAP.

@PUNKEY,
Thing is, i really tried to be friendly and reach out. before i moved i had 6 months intensive language training but for my job i need very technical language and of course, the language course didnt covered that. I know 2 months is a too short period of time, but they threatned me based on a suggestion i made on a specific issue...Nothing else.Didnt felt fair at all,still doesnt. And when you're completely 'THE' foreigner that no one likes its really hard to spend like 10hrs a day in a place surrounded by people that clearly dont like you for no specific reason...

Yeah--the New Model indentured slave.

I wouldn't be there in the first place, like my namesake, Spendius, but if I was, I would take on, as Spendius does in Flaubert's magnificent story of Salammbo, the appropriate way out which I trust in this case is an easier option than his was.

And it isn't as risky as Jeff Dawson's route back to Wisconsin, now that ships are built to higher standards.

Fancy leaving Wisconsin eh?

Prodigal son tales. The Bible does it in slashing brushstrokes. Flaubert takes 5 years over it and James Cameron $70 million bucks.
