WASHINGTON - Education Secretary Rod Paige called the nation's largest teachers union a "terrorist organization" during a private White House meeting with governors on Monday.
Democratic and Republican governors confirmed Paige's remarks about the National Education Association.

* Guess they will be rounded up and sent to Getmo as "enemy combatents".
Sorry 'bout that.
The topic is open for discussion though.
Can't comment until I see the entire article, not just 'sound bites'
Thanks.
Will Asscroft go after this bunch of "terrorists" ?
Paige has successfully fired himself. The Act in question places the primary education sector in just a more "official" type of the same position it has chronically faced for years. Individual schools have always been responsible for the performance of its pupils. Assigning accountability to the schools would be misplaced, as it should fall on the institution responsible for their resources. The gap between the upper, middle and lower classes in their respective qualities of education is not the fault of individual schools, but more the fault of the state and federal education policies that dictate how much money goes to what schools. Schools in more affluent areas get more funding to buy the better equipment and to support the better programs. Schools in less affluent areas get less funding, metal detectors and security details. Schools are not leaving their children behind. The state and federal education policies are leaving the schools behind. Calling the NEA a "terrorist organization" for recognizing this...again, and again, and again... is, in and of itself, an act of terrorism. Rod Paige should have a nice comfortable room at x-ray, free of charge.
