He windsurfs and I love hiking - and I'm trying to get back in shape after a strenuous year of teaching (too tired to get to the gym), so during the summer - we have a couple of types of weekends.
Mostly, we either walk to my favorite coffee shop a few blocks away (not HIS favorite...) or drive off to one of his preferred breakfast establishments. Then, we go to the city (SF) in search of a dog park. Lately, we've been trying new dog parks and they all suck. Like yesterday, we tried a hiking / dog park situation - but the "dog area" was gravel. My dog was hot and his pads got too hot. They had no receptacles for poop bags, nor water bowls for thirsty dogs. I mean - we took our dog bowl, but what about people who forgot? We may continue to look around for off-leash options for our dog, but so far I strongly prefer the people, the dogs, and the grass at Dubose Park.
One or both days of the weekend, we get to the beach if conditions are right. We either shop, or stalk down Haight or GG Park until the fog burns away from the beaches. I love clothing optional beaches, so we go to our favorite if the temp is 75 or above. We've had some extraordinary warm days lately, so yay!! In the mid- to late- afternoon, conditions are good for his thing on the water, so he does that.
We collapse in a heap on the couch and browse sports or movies.
I also like the days that we stay in bed.
We make day trips to other areas with water sports in mind.
I finally joined the USTA, and I'm looking forward to some tennis tournaments in SF...one scheduled for next weekend.
I guess approx every third weekend, we catch a movie. Just saw Moonrise Kingdom (like), and I am really looking forward to catching Hype Park on the Hudson - but 'twil be Deciembre.
There are some hot springs close by, some beautiful caverns near Sacramento, and I haven't seen Yosemite yet, so these things are in my plans - he's not interested. Something cool about seeing it - and doing it alone! Love hearing how people spend their weekends.
