just heard on MSNBC that voters list terrorism as the least of their concerns in the up-coming election.

I listed jobs--with the president's no millionaires left behind programs, someone on Pennsylvania Avenue seems to have forgotten the 250,000,000+ other Americans . . .

Other. The constitution is under attack, and the Supreme Court is due for new members.

All or at least most of the above. The concerns of people vary based upon that which effects them personally.

Maybe I am not similar to most voters, but terrorism scares the hell out of me. Even though I am not a great fan of Bush, before I would vote for someone else, I would have to be convinced that the candidate would remain strong and vigilant in the area of terrorism.

There are other issues that ARE important to me, like the economy and Bush's move towards fundamentalist religiosity in the country. But, first and foremost, keeping America safe is my prime concern.

Anybody remember Chamberlain?

Chamberlain faced a real, identifiable threat, and backed down. In the current situation the US is the real credible threat. I find supporting a bully to be unconscionable.

hobitbob- The world has changed greatly, since Hitler walked across Europe. One of the big problems now is that the present threat is much more amorphous than what happened in the 1930's.

It is an entirely new ballgame, with a whole new scenario. It is incumbent upon a president in this era, to be able to deal with and control terrorism around the world, before it is able to come to our shores, and bite us in the butt!

I don't ever want to see a 9/11 again!

I doubt you will. the 11th September attacks were a fluke, but I have to ask you if it bothers you that the current administration has used the event like a shroud to wrap itself in? Any criticism is immediately deflected with "9/11." They appear to have succeeded in frightening you, and many others, and keeping you in that condition. The way to deter terrorism is not to stomp about and wave our willy proudly in the air. That sort of behaviour is what leads to the antipathy many feel toward the US.
