I figured that we atheists don't get enough chat time here on A2K. So I've taken the liberty of starting a little atheist thread. How do you like that Husker? This is not:
1-debate forum
2-bashing forum
3-anything deceitful
This is:
1-Atheist chat about Atheist lives (chat: for lack of a better word)
----Have you thanked your mom today?
----Are you believing that God does not exist for any specific reason?
----Would you like false empathy for something going on in your life?
----Have you ever led anyone to a logical belief system?
----Did ya laugh at the people who had to drag themselves to church on sunday?
Let's begin. I started the day not praying to a god. Then I harassed some Protestants-It's going to be a good day...
Does anyone have a specific reason for being atheist or agnostic other than the fact that it's much more logical to believe that something that you cannot see should not be worshipped?
I try not to proselytize, but I don't mind pointing out
a place to get more information
I like this from that site, Kokopeli
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
What I find very interesting is the concept that no polarized viewpoint is complete without it's opposite. Here are some fun examples: atheist = a theist. Therapist = The rapist. God spelled bakwards is Dog, and if you are a truly devout dog owner, you know that a. you are indeed beholden to your dog, and b. despite that, you are the one in control, unless of course, you are the reincarnation of the Son of Sam.
I met a man who was not there
How I wish he would stay away
I don't remember the exact quote.

I found the
Ten Commandments links interesting also, especially back when all of the uproar over judge Moore's monument was going on.
I've always been a bit peeved by folks of various divergent belief sets who are convinced their own particular cosmos view is the only possible valid one. I'm even more perturbed by those folks that figure its their life work to either convert or eradicate those who won't play their game. I don't have much use for folks that find entertainment in ridiculing other folks for their beliefs, either. These things can be discussed. It just seems lots of folks who try to discuss them have no idea how to go about it.
Why do religious people believe that their view is the only right one, especially those who derive their views from another religion?
Conversely, why do some of those who are not religious believe their view is the only right one? I'm just a non-subscriber, either way, personally, but whatever anyone else figures works for them is fine with me so long as they grant me the same consideration.
Timber- You and I are of one mind on that one. I may not respect a person's beliefs, but I respect their RIGHT to hold those beliefs, so long as it does not infringe on MY freedom.
I hate to see one group of people tearing another apart. I prefer to look to our common humanity.
Thanks phoenix, that's what I was getting at. I never really took into consideration that atheists do almost the same thing.
There ya go, Individual ... its one of those "One Size Fits Badly" deals, isn't it?
Yeah...Oh well.
Why do people feel that they must convert others to their beliefs?
