Independents already know this, and it is not enough, that is why they are independents.

That also appears to be a major element of his campaign strategy.

The problem is that the folks who find this enough were never in question. They were never going to vote Republican.

His most loyal supporters insist that he has a record upon which he can run and yet he and his campaign, obviously don't agree.

What has happened with this guy is going to be an essential lesson in political science courses throughout the land...once enough time has passed to allow the glamour to fade.

The actual (quite effective) version of this slogan is

NO SOY REPUBLICANO.

Don't forget that the race is for swing states (national popular vote doesn't matter). In key states like Colorado and New Mexico the Republicans blatant hatred of all things Hispanic may be a key factor in this race.

If there weren't so many brain dead to be found within the American electorate, Finn, it would be all that's needed. Remember, these are the people that elected GWB, twice, Ronny, twice - two of the biggest war criminals/terrorists that the US has ever seen.

Don't forget that:

1) Hispanics remain a minority in Arizona and Colorado
2) Hispanics have as varied a range of mind sets as Anglos (how racist of you Max!)
3) New Mexico and Colorado are not going to decide this election
4) That Republicans, of NM and CO, have a blatant hatred for all things Hispanic has to be one of the most utterly absurd comments posted in this forum.

For the record, in no way did I mean to single out the Republicans of NM and CO.

@maxdancona,
With that correction you've raised the absurdity level of your opinion.

Well, at least you won't be daunted by reason.

@Finn dAbuzz,
The polls give Obama a huge margin of support among Hispanic voters. This means that states like Colorado which used to be almost certain to go Red are now likely in the Blue column.

Of course you can't expect all Hispanic voters to think alike. But according to polls you can expect about 80% of them to vote for President Obama.

@maxdancona,
Obama won New Mexico and Colorado in 2008.

If they are in play now, that is to Romney's advantage.

The Romney strategy doesn't require that he win in either state.

@Finn dAbuzz,
Obama got 359 electoral votes in 2008 (when he only needed 270).

How do you see Romney winning without taking New Mexico or Colorado? You could give Romney Florida, Ohio and Virginia and Obama would still have more than the 270 needed to win.

@maxdancona,
Romney needs to take states Obama won in 2008, but they don't need to be New Mexico and Colorado.

Find a (credible) political analysis that says Romney has to win New Mexico and/or Colorado if you can.

@Finn dAbuzz,
Romney's 3-2-1 strategy goes something like this...

Retain every state won by McCain in '08 and then,

1. Take back IN, NC, & VA (won by Obama in '08)
2. Win both OH and FL (both won by Bush in '04, won by Obama in '08)
3. Win any one of these 8 states: CO, IA, MI, NV, NH, NM, PA or WI (CO, IA, NV & NM went for Bush in '04)

Thank you Irish

Very good bet:

IN, VA, OH, FL

Good bet:

NC, WI, NV, NH,

Entirely Possible:

CO, MI

Notice Max that he doesn't have to win NM or CO.

Oh, and by the way, Republicans love Mexican food and Selma Hyak.

@Finn dAbuzz,
Sure, you are right. Romney doesn't have to win NM or CO if he wins every single one of IN, NC, VA, OH and Florida.

This seems unlikely to me. But sure, under this assumption then he doesn't need NM or CO.

But my point is that the fact that nearly 80% of Hispanic voters support Obama make things a lot more difficult across the board for Romney.

@maxdancona,
And yet in Arizona the following elected officials are Republicans:

The Governor
Both US Senators
5 of 7 US Representatives
The Secretary of State
The Attorney General
The State Treasurer
The Superintendent of Public Instruction
The State Mine Inspector
Corporation Commissioners

And Republicans have held power in both houses of the State legislature since 1993

Pretty neat trick considering that, according to you, they hate everything Hispanic.

Colorado is a different story but then it has fewer hispanic citizens than New Mexico...just more liberal anglos.
