@rosborne979,
I've seen the first trailer and decided to stay away from anymore trailers as I am incredibly psyched for the movie's 8 June 2012 theatrical release. I just might try and see it in IMAX if I can.

@tsarstepan,
I'm trying to hold my expectations in check so I won't hold it to an unrealistically high standard. But it's been a LONG times since we've had any groundbreaking SciFi... damn, I shouldn't have said that. I shouldn't even have thought it. Damn Wink

@Irishk,
I plan on NOT seeing it in 3D. I find the 3D distracting, while adding virtually nothing to the visual impact of the movie.

Maybe if I see the film twice I'll try the second viewing in 3D just to compare the two.

Yikes. That's like watching the World Series on tape, six months after it's done. Smile

@djjd62,
Mr.Irish was willing to wait 'til it's out on DVD.

Then, I mentioned the part where Charlize Theron does naked pushups....

@rosborne979,
Good lord, this guy has a three page review up on Forbes.

@Irishk,
Well, here's my review: I was disappointed. This movie is somewhere between a 7 and an 8 out of ten, not bad but not nearly as good as it could have been.

Prometheus lacked the ambiance and suspense of Alien. Ridley failed to recreate his original mood. Beyond that, Prometheus tries to be a film with an intelligent plot, but it spends too much time on gratuitous visuals and gross "shock value" stuff to really make the story work. I don't mind suspending a little bit of reality in a film, but there's a limit, especially when the film is trying to take itself seriously.

The acting was pretty good, the visuals were spectacular and there were some interesting aliens. But this film will not leave a mark on history like its predecessors.

@rosborne979,
Thanks for the review. I'd actually rather go in with lower expectations than believe the hype and be disappointed. Heard the acting is phenomenal -- story not that great, just as you say.

On to Robopocalypse and World War Z (zombies, not aliens lol).

Didn't Inception come pretty close though?

I heard a long interview on this motion picture on the radio today. I won't tell you what the guy said--spoilers.

@rosborne979,
weve kid of lost our way in production and continuity of the story line in many movies. Too much of the visuals and CGI is now substituted for substance.
We still need a story and some kind of an arc for the characters.
