@roger,
It's happened to me, roger.
Perhaps the person responding to my (initial) post could have been quite annoyed ..... especially if my edit changed the nature of the original comment. Though it would be unlikely I'd add add something totally out of left field as an edit ...
But if so, I'll happily apologize for the late edit & listen to any extra comments the responding poster might have to them.
Fair's fair.

Don't the older PMs eventually drop off?

I think it's a number of PMs thing. I recently found all of my PMs from people like Dys and Dianne gone. I looked it up and discovered that there's a limited number you can keep. I guess they drop off the end as new ones get added.

I wish I had known....I'd sure as hell have saved Dys.

@dlowan,
Same here, Deb.
I wish I'd saved Bob's PMs before so many vanished! Sad

@dlowan,
If there is a numerical limit, I sure would like to self delete some in order to save others.

@msolga,
I see, and thanks for sharing your experience.

Like most of us, I doubt your edits change the substance of the original.

@roger,
I just checked my inbox. My oldest PM is from Anon somewhere in 2006. If they're being deleted, it must be based on quantity, not age.

@roger,
You're too kind, roger.
I doubt any edits would change the broad thrust of your posted comments either.

@ossobuco,
Thank you Oss but that system doesn’t work out well and proves tedious to a scatterbrain such as I

I'd be really unhappy with an "endless editing" option.

Of course folks are different from one another in many respects

Just about every one of them has been fairly brief.
It would take no time at all for you to edit any of them.
True but in other instances at other sites I have spent as long as 2 hrs composing an especially intricate post

@dalehileman,
What about my suggestion that you do your editing before you post, dalehileman?
You can take as you need to that way.
PLUS 10 more minutes after you've posted. Smile
Would that help?

2 hours composing a post?! Are you retired (one hopes you're not doing this on the job)?
Yes

Good Lord man, you need to get more of a life or something.
Wow! you can say that again Mame, my yardwork really suffers. I’ve tried to kick the habit altogether with no success so now I’m attempting to curtail the activity at least on Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat (unsuccessfully as you can see)
