Usually after you've opened a thread to view new posts, the newness of it has gone and by refreshing one's My Posts page, the newness has disappeared.

Mine appears to be broken. Anyone else?

@JTT,
Now, it's working again, ... sometimes.

What I've noticed (on & off recently) is the that New classification attached to new posts hasn't disappeared (as its meant to) after I've read the post/s.
So I've sometimes reread the same posts a few times , thinking they were new contributions when they weren't.
Does that make sense? I hope so. Smile
No big deal, just responding to your doohickey question.

logging out, and then logging right back in should clear all the unread's...

@Region Philbis,
Not sure if you're responding to me or to JTT, Region.
If you were talking to me I mustn't have made myself clear.
I know the unreads will clear after I've logged out.
But I was taking about posts which I've already read, while online.
The New classification doesn't vanish after I've read the posts.
But, as I said, an on & off experience.
And no big deal.

What I seem to find happening is that, when I go to "new posts" and find something interesting, often on a new topic, and then go off to google to find just the telling information which will either reinforce the cogent points the OP made, or tear down his/her incredibly screwed up view of the universe, the whole damned topic has disappeared from "new posts" when I come back and I can't find it again, and I sit there with the perfect bon mot inhand and no way to deliver it.

Open all topics and 'new post' in a new tab, MJ. Work in other tabs and leave that 'new posts' tab untouched until you are ready to post to the new one and that way you won't lose it. Another way is if you do open it immediately tag it with an easily identifiable tag.

@MontereyJack,
I think I know what's happening in your case, Monterey Jack.

Look under "My Preferences" and scroll to "Topic List Preferences." Select "No" where it asks "Put unread topics above read topics." Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Update Preferences bar to reset.

I don't tend to navigate in the same way you do JTT, so I'm not sure I understand the problem with your doohickey thingy.

Yes, I'm afraid so.
Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.
Cantankerous, unpredictable thing it is! Smile

@JTT,
if your doohickey stays wood for more than four hours, please consult your doctor...

My doohickey is doing fine, however my dingus's warranty just ran out and now it's giving me problems, and I can't tell what language the tech support people are speaking. It may be Uzbek.
